A flat-backed polystyrene half ring — rounded at the front, flat at the back, so the finished wreath sits neatly against a door or wall instead of rolling forward. Wrap it in yarn, cover it in crochet flowers, glue on dried blooms or pompoms: the surface takes pins, hot glue and wire without crumbling.
