Can I use YarnArt Silky Wool as a carry-along yarn?

Yes. At 190 m per 25 g it is fine enough to hold with another yarn without making the fabric heavy. Paired with a kid mohair such as Alize Kid Royal 50, it adds body and a soft sheen under the halo. Swatch first, as two strands together need a larger needle than either one alone.

Is YarnArt Silky Wool good for baby clothes?

Yes. It is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and combines merino warmth with a smooth, silky feel, so it suits fine baby cardigans, bonnets and christening shawls. The fine weight gives light, airy fabric. The label allows a 40 °C machine wash; use a gentle cycle in a mesh bag and dry flat.

Why are YarnArt Silky Wool balls only 25 g?

Because the yarn is very fine, a small ball still goes a long way: each 25 g ball holds 190 m, which works out at 760 m per 100 g. Small balls let you buy closer to what lace shawls, hats and accessories actually need, and make carry-along or colourwork projects less wasteful.

What needle size for a Silky Wool lace shawl?

Go up from the 3 mm label size: most lace shawls in fine yarn are knitted on 3.5–4.5 mm so the openwork blocks out light and airy. Swatch a lace repeat, wet it, pin it out and let it dry before choosing. Smaller needles give crisper, denser lace; larger ones a softer, more cobweb-like fabric.
